Gutter Services · Twin Cities, MN
Your Gutters Do More Than You Think. Until They Don't.
Gutters are one of those things nobody thinks about until something goes wrong — and by then, the damage is usually already happening. Clogged, failing, or missing gutters allow water to pool against your foundation, saturate your fascia and soffit, and in Minnesota winters, create the ice dams that cause some of the worst interior water damage we see.
Honest Exteriors handles the full range of gutter work for homeowners across the Twin Cities metro and southern Minnesota. We install K-style and barrel gutter systems and help you choose the right profile and size for your roof and property.
Free inspections available. If your gutters were damaged in a recent storm, we can also document the damage and help support your insurance claim.

Why It Matters
What Happens When Gutters Fail
In Minnesota's climate, gutters aren't optional. The freeze-thaw cycle, heavy spring rains, and late-season leaf drop create the exact conditions that overwhelm neglected gutter systems.
Ice Dams
Clogged gutters block snowmelt from draining, forcing water under shingles and into your attic and ceilings.
Foundation Damage
Water overflowing or discharging too close to the house saturates the soil — leading to cracks, settling, and basement flooding.
Fascia & Soffit Rot
Standing water in sagging gutters wicks into the fascia board behind them — expensive to fix and a common entry point for pests.
Landscaping Erosion
Uncontrolled roof runoff dumps concentrated water onto landscaping — washing away mulch, eroding soil, and damaging plants.
Gutter Styles
K-Style & Barrel Gutters
We install two primary gutter profiles — the right choice depends on your home's architecture, roof pitch, and aesthetic preference.
Most Common
K-Style Gutters
Flat back, decorative ogee front — resembles crown molding. Holds significantly more water than a round gutter of the same width. The dominant style across the Twin Cities. Available in 5" and 6" widths.
Traditional Look
Barrel (Half-Round)
Semicircular trough with a classic appearance. Common on older homes, craftsman-style properties, and historic renovations where the rounded profile matches the original architecture.

Common Questions
Gutter FAQ
How often should gutters be cleaned in Minnesota?
At least twice a year — late spring after seeds and pollen settle, and late fall after leaves drop. Homes under heavy tree cover may need more. Clogged gutters going into winter are one of the leading causes of ice dams and interior water damage.
What size gutters do I need?
Most Twin Cities homes are well served by 5" K-style gutters. Steeper pitches, larger roof areas, or heavy tree coverage may benefit from 6" gutters. We'll assess your roof and recommend the right size during your free estimate.
Do gutter guards actually work?
Quality gutter guards and helmet systems significantly reduce cleaning frequency and prevent debris buildup that causes clogs. Micro-mesh guards are the most effective for Minnesota's mix of large debris and small seeds. We install gutter helmets and screens.
What are signs my gutters need to be replaced?
Visible sagging or separation from the fascia, cracks or holes in the channel, rust staining, water pooling near your foundation, and gutters that overflow during moderate rain even after cleaning. We offer free inspections to assess repair vs. replacement.
Does homeowners insurance cover gutter damage?
Damage from a covered storm event — hail, wind, falling debris — is typically covered. Damage from neglect or normal wear generally isn't. If your gutters were damaged in a recent storm, we can inspect them and help document the damage for your claim.
What's the difference between K-style and barrel gutters?
K-style has a flat back and decorative ogee front — the most common style in the Twin Cities. Barrel (half-round) gutters are semicircular and suit older or historic homes. Honest Exteriors installs both styles.
